Our Little Wooden Boat, Grace

Taxi Boat Lisboa was founded in 2016 by friends Lenka and Jiri, who are both from the Czech Republic but crossed paths in Portugal. Their shared love of the Portuguese coastline and passion for classic boats led them to purchase a 1972 speedboat built in Aveiro in the style of the Classic Italian river cruisers.

They next painstakingly restored the boat to its original shape and beauty in collaboration with expert Portuguese boat builders and woodworkers with their centuries-long history and tradition of enabling captains to navigate the waterways of the world. The boat, named Little Wooden Boat Grace, was inspired by the iconic boats of Venice and Lago di Como. And through her restoration, Taxi Boat Lisboa was born.

While Jiri has since returned to Prague to pursue his culinary dreams, Lenka continues to run Taxi Boat Lisboa among her other pursuits.

The Founder, Lenka

Lenka is an architect and designer who leads a dynamic studio, Atelier Holcnerova, focused on reconstructions and custom-made designs. With a passion for architecture, classic designs, and the ocean, Lenka loves cities on the water. She created Taxi Boat Lisboa so the people of Lisbon and its visitors can explore and interact with the Tejo Rives elegantly and see the city she adores from her favorite perspective.
